I Need Your Help!

I am getting close to finishing the artwork for my dining room.  Once I finish, I will explain how I did it (the process was similar to how I made my living room art), but for now, I need your help!  The first day I worked on it, I got as far as gluing two trees onto the panel.

My plan was always to have three trees on the panel, so over the weekend I cut the third one out and laid it in place.  I’m not sure if I just got used to looking at it with only two trees or what, but my first reaction was that the third tree made the panel look too cluttered.  I waited a day and then tried looking at it with the third tree again and this time, I didn’t mind it so much.  This is where you all come into play.  I laid the tree into a few different places and took pictures.  Let me know what you think!  Which one do you like the best?  The two trees as pictured above?  Or one of the following with three trees?

    I like #3 the least – too close-but-just-off symmetrical. I might like #1 the best…but it’s a toss up for me between #1 and #2.

I like #1. It’s symmetrical in that each side has about the same visual weight. But it’s not actually symmetrical. Yeah.

Good input Elsa. I’ve definitely ruled out #3 (for the same reason Kim doesn’t like it), but I’m really torn between #1 and #2! Maybe I should just put some numbers in a hat…

I say #1, but #2 and the 2-trees option aren’t bad. #3 is too close to symmetrical, it looks more like a planted row of trees than a natural cluster of them.

  4. Angie says:

    Definitely #1.

    #2 or #3… I think I like 2 the best but 3 is a very close second.

oh wait. I’m a dork and was thinking the options were listed below the pic and not above.

    so I should say:
    #1 or #2… I think I like 1 the best but 2 is a very close second.

  7. I love the spacing on # 2. What are the trees made of ? Maybe I should go read about the LR art…

    • EFeDesigns says:

Of course Sara will know for sure, but I think they are made of felt.

They are actually made of an outdoor fabric. I picked it up at a fabric store in the remnants section. I figured the extra coating that makes the fabric sunproof would also keep it from fraying when I cut it. And it did!
