Tree Stump Rugs

Welcome back from the long weekend! We hope everybody had a great holiday weekend. The first day back after a long weekend or vacation is always difficult, but alas, here we all are! We’ll start the day off with something interesting to look at. A flooring sales rep sent me a picture of this awesome rug that mimics the look of a tree stump. I’ve had it in my inbox for a while, so it’s about time that I shared it!

I really wish I could touch it! Unfortunately, I don’t know the source (but if you do, please share in the comments). I did a little searching on Google to see if I could find it…I couldn’t, but I did find a few other rugs along the same vein. I think it’s really interesting to see how different people take the same idea, in this case a rug that looks like a tree stump, and interpret it in different ways. The rug above is pretty literal, but still somewhat stylized. Here’s an example of a really literal rug:

On the other side of the spectrum, here’s a much more stylized version:

I love these rugs! My favorite has to be the first one, but the third is a close second. Which one do you like the best?

I prefer the first and second. The second looks like it was knitted or crocheted, but what is the composition of that first beauty? Is it textile?
